A typical class consists of stretching and flexibility
exercises to prepare the body and muscles for Karate training. Training
during a typical class will consist of one or more of the following:

A program of basic Karate techniques: blocking, punching,
striking, and kicking techniques

Training in various KATA (a set of predetermined organized
Karate movements also commonly known as "forms") to develop precision and coordination in the execution of
Karate techniques

the study of kata application (bunkai)
including, throws, chokes, strangulations and joint locks. It should be
noted that these types of techniques are reserved for adult training and are
not taught to children

Training in self-defense techniques to learn the proper
response against various holding, punching and kicking attacks

Training in sparring tactics and techniques utilizing
Karate to develop timing, distance, reactions, and overall mind and body
control
